I recently worked with artist Kayla Plosz to create her new online home! For this WordPress-powered site, I customized the theme Modern by adding a custom header, changing up the colors, widgetizing the sidebar to link easily to her Etsy store, adding a nifty little contact form, and a portfolio section (which Kayla can update herself! Yay for no coding!). When we’re finished (which will be veddy veddy soon) this site should be a great tool for Kayla to connect and network as well as display her beautiful work! Stay tuned for the official launch!
If you’re jonesing for some wooden shoes, you should check out the Tulip Festival in Holland, MI going on all week. Don’t worry, your last name doesn’t have to start with “Van” or end in “ema” to get in.
I really don’t like running…I prefer frisbee. But since pretty much all the runners I’ve met are super cool folks, I was jazzed to create this shirt for the 2010 Wheel Run 5K. Hopefully it made all the participants feel very…runnerly (?).
I was inspired by the Philadelphia Marathon’s use of bold typography. I liked the idea of a very simple, very streamlined statement that was without frills but not without graphic impact.
I would say that you could have one, but they’re all out. The Wheel Run had a record turn out this year…I’d like to think that the shirts were the main draw. Ok fine, maybe not. I’m going to go play frisbee now.
Stay tuned for posts showcasing some simple and classic wedding programs and the reveal of the new online home of artist, Kayla Plosz!
Ahh, the sweet taste of victory. I like that flavor. But for every morsel of success, I’ve also had my share of…what’s it called?…fa..fai…fail…can’t seem to get the word…right. You know, the opposite of success. Well, no matter…
Whether you’re a fine artist, writer, musician, designer or just about anything else in the creative field, I’m sure you’ve experienced rejection. Hopefully, this post will make you feel just a little bit better. With that goal in mind, I present to you my “40 Flavors of FAIL”.
This logo project grew to include a total of over 40 different logo designs and ultimately went absolutely nowhere (unless you count “down the tubes” as somewhere). From that 40ish, I’ve chosen some that I thought were ok and some that, I admit, weren’t very good at all.
When the day is done, it’s very easy to design something different. What’s hard is designing something better.
*Disclaimer* Some of these are gross, please don’t think less of me.
Hi all. Let’s be whimsical on Wednesdays from here on out. Mmk?
After a considerable period of self-imposed freedom from freelancing, I’m starting to take on projects again. Somewhat encouraging are the three projects I’ve been able to take on in the past week. They include a blog/website design for the wonderfully talented Kayla Plosz, wedding programs, and a t-shirt design for the 2010 Wheel Run 5K. I’ll keep you posted on the progress!
Just in case you’re wondering, that lovely little font above (making an appearance in the wedding programs I’m designing) is Garton. Enjoy!
Hello all. Thanks for stopping by my new blog! It’s still a work in progress, so bear with me while I still get some things sorted out.
I’m planning to focus on several things that I ultimately hope you will find enjoyable and informative. I’ll do my best to keep everything up to date with my going-ons…but only if they’re interesting. No posts about my trip to the grocery…promise.
Here’s a list of some topics I hope to touch on:
In doing all this, I hope that you will in turn be inspired to share, collaborate and create!
